The most Annoying awesome gift in the world

No, I’m not talking about, broccolli for your birthday or something like that, but, I talk about something much, much more everyday. WORK !!!!!!
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil–this is God’s gift to man.
Ya, I wish…. If you’re in the least way like me. HUMAN. Then you probably hate work, I mean if its fun, its not work. Though some fun things are productive. So, why on earth is work a gift? Cons: It’s hard, it never is really done, it could consume you, it takes time away from more pleasureable things………….. And on into infinty, right? Pros: well, if you can’t think of any then this devo is for YOU. (I know, horrible advertising)
So, what is work good for? the first thing that probably came to your mind is the rewards. Like, c’mon we all need some cash here and there. Plus if I can make six digits a year I’ve got it made, right? NO, actually that’s not the biggest benefit. Work is a gift because it keeps you away from sin. Think of it, it kind of hard to be slothful when you’re mowing the lawn. Or to waste your time when you’re using it well. Or to look at pornography when your doing yardwork. Often we think of work being a plus because of what we can get from it, but in reality that is not the gift, the gift is that we CAN work. God has given us the ability to work. I have realized that the most depressing days of my life are the days where I did nothing but relax. While the best days of my life are the days I have gotten something done well. The gift is that we can work for satisfaction, the gift is that we can work at getting to know God, the gift is that we can work at loving others. If there is one point I want to make, this is it: God’s gift to us in this verse, is not the rewards of work, but that we CAN work for the rewards. There are many handicapped people that wish they could earn money, that wish they could do something other than be taken care of. But they can’t, and it really depresses them.
But, there is a danger, work can also consume you. If you are not carefull, then the real goal of life, glorifying god, can be blotted out by work. Never value the gift over the giver. So this week when your mom ask you to help her in the garden, ( I picked this because it’s not overused, like take out the trash), or when you are forced to rake your lawn in the middle of spring. Then, please remember, that work can help you grow up, and live a happy satisfied life. Please accept the most Awesome annoying gift in the world.

No, I am not stuttering and I am not going to speak baby language. Thank you very much. (not)
Psalms 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Psalms 31:19 Oh, how abundant is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you and worked for those who take refuge in you, in the sight of the children of mankind!
Psalms 65:4 Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple!
Psalms 145:7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.
God’s great goodness. Have any of you ever tasted it? Seen it? Felt it? Looked over it? Missed it? God’s goodness is one of those things that are matchless. Something that I can never forget. Once I tasted it my world changed and the things of this world tasted like cardboard, baloney, junk. It’s like eating a stale piece of bread after tasting your favorite food. But what do I mean by God’s great goodness, particularly as of right now I am not talking about your house or your food or anything like that. No, I’m talking about something different. God’s spiritual goodness, his joy, his peace, his forgiveness. For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, I can’t explain it to you. I’m not into the second salvation thing at all but, when one is a christian spiritual things happen more. Harmony and peace in God become more than just a catch phrase, they are real. Like, real, real. They no longer are what your pastor talks about on sunday, but they are what you experience Monday-Sunday. I want to share a part of song called ” Come thou fount of every blessing ” Read it as your own prayer, from your heart to God’s.
Oh to grace how great a debtor
Daily I’m constrained to be!
Let Thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind my wandering heart to Thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.

I am a debtor. Please say this hymn verse out loud, like I just did, so that people can hear you, show some courage. And think each line thru, and think of God.

In debt
